Steve grew up in an Assemblies of God church and was licensed in 1969 as a minister.  In 1974 Steve and Becky joined the Christian Evangelistic Assemblies (now Grace International) and started a church in Livermore, California.  They served as pastors at that location for almost ten years. 

In 1983, Steve & Becky moved to Houston, Texas, and began Grace Community Church where they are presently serving in the role of Senior Pastor.  During their tenure, Grace has grown to over 10,000 members.  An additional campus of Grace began in The Woodlands, Texas in October of 2005. 

Steve currently serves as President of Grace International, a fellowship of over eleven hundred churches nationally and internationally. Additionally, Steve serves on the executive team of Houston Area Pastors Council, a group of pastors seeking to serve the whole body of Christ in the Greater Houston area as it mobilizes to reach the whole city with the gospel.  He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the King's College and Seminary located in Van Nuys, California and has done leadership training in various settings, in the states and overseas.  Steve has authored a book entitled “The Sharper Edge,” which was published in 2001, and his messages have been broadcast on nation-wide television.
